The financial crisis in which the individual finance collapse and resurrect
Collapse and resurrection of individual business opportunities

The financial crisis is a recurrent event that may happen at any time, affecting the individuals’ life worldwide causing uncertainty. The individual is trapped in a system that prevents financial security and economic independence.

Markets, despite their collective expertise, are apparently destined to repeat the history of systematic financial crisis once and again – Read More.

We are living the last phase of a historic shifting period known as Post Capitalism, i.e. (Globalization) in which it is possible the renascence of Individual business ventures.

The Historical changes happened in the World caused tremendous consequences on the individuals’ economic life.

Those changes that occurred within the historical period known as Post-Capitalism caused two types of side effectsCollateral damages and Collateral opportunities.

As contraposition, were the Collateral damages caused the endemic effect of stress and anxiety on individuals’ life due to financial crises that collapsed the individual economic life;  the Collateral opportunities allow face those negative side effects,  occurred into the first stage of Post Capitalism,  being aware that they can be facing and successfully overcome.

A: The Collapse of individual financial opportunities exposes to a financial crisis

a financial crisis destroys the heart of the economic system
  • The overlapping of different historical ages

The superposition of different historical stages, starting after World War II creates a historical shift known as Post-Capitalism, commonly named as Globalization.

Within that period the several overlapped historical phases are still currently occurring. In the first place, the birth of the Knowledge Worker that created a society of organizations owned and managed by employees instead of by the former capitalists.

But equally important are the fourth phase of the Industrial Era, the Robotics that is causing the replacement of traditional labor and Artificial Intelligence.

As a consequence of these events, a new lifestyle appears where the distinctive aspects are the loss of clear points of reference and stress due to the unpredictability of the financial future. As a result of, it is possible to understand the individual and social confusion and financial and economic uncertainty.

By contrast also into the same period but after 1990 happened the diffusion of the use of the Internet in business and the unrestricted access to global markets for individual business.

As a result, countless opportunities for individuals appear with no more resources than a personal computer and an Internet connection.

Let to Dr. Peter Drucker tell us about of the facts that explain those global historical changes:

  • The Transformation

Every few hundred years in Western history there occurs a sharp transformation. Within a few short decades, society rearranges itself – its world view; its basic values; its social and political structure; its arts; its key institutions.

Our time, is again such a period of transformation. This time it is not, however, confined to Western society and Western history.

It is moot whether this present transformation began with the emergence of the first non-Western country, Japan, as a Great Economic Power – that is, around 1960 – or with the computer, that is, with information becoming central. My own candidate would be the American GI Bill of Rights after World War II which gave every returning American soldier the money to attend a university – something that would have made absolutely no sense only 30 years earlier, at the end of World War I. The GI Bill of Rights – and the enthusiastic response to it on the part of America's veterans – signaled the shift to the knowledge society.

Future historians may well consider it the most important event of the twentieth century.

This signaled the shift to the knowledge society.

We are clearly still in the middle of this transformation –

No one born in 1990 could possibly imagine the world in which one's grandparents had grown up and in which one's own parents had been born.

We are far enough advanced into the new post-capitalist society to review and revise the social, economic and political history of the Age of Capitalism and of the nation state.

I call the ‘post-capitalist polity’, a system in which transnational, regional, nation-state and local, indeed tribal, structures compete and co-exist. These things have already happened.

Post-capitalist society and post-capitalist polity

As a society, the developed countries have also already moved into post-capitalism. It is fast becoming a society of new ‘classes’ and with a new central resource as its core.

  • Background

Capitalist society was dominated by two social classes: the capitalists, who owned and controlled the means of production, and the workers: ‘proletarians’, alienated, exploited, dependent.

Around 1950 the industrial worker – no longer a ‘proletarian’ but still ‘labour’ – seemed to dominate politics and society in every developed country.

But then, with the onset of the ‘Management Revolution’ the blue-collar workers in manufacturing industry rapidly began to decline both in numbers and even more in power and status.

The capitalist probably reached his peak even earlier – by the turn of the century, and surely no later than World War I.

The elder avatars of the old Capitalism like Morgan, Rockefeller, Carnegie or Ford in the United States; Siemens, Thysen, Rathenau, Krupp in Germany; Mond, Cunard, Lever, Vickers, Armstrong in England; de Wendel and Schneider in France; or of the families that owned the great zaibatsu of Japan; Mitsubishi, Mitsui and Sumitomo.By World War II they had all been replaced by 'professional managers' – the first result of the Management Revolution.

Those professional managers have become 'celebrities'; economically they have almost ceased to matter.

Even on the business pages, all attention is being paid to those managers and their 'excessive salaries' and bonuses.

Pension funds are run by a new breed of capitalists, the faceless, anonymous, salaried employees, the pension funds' investment analysts, and portfolio managers.

Instead of capitalists and proletarians, the classes of the post-capitalist society are knowledge workers and service workers.

The real and controlling resource and the absolutely decisive 'factor of production' is now neither capital, nor land, nor labor. It is knowledge.

  •  The shift to the knowledge society

The move to the post-capitalist society began shortly after World War II.  I first wrote of the 'employee society' even before 1950.

Ten years later, around 1960, I coined the terms 'knowledge work' and 'knowledge worker'. And my 1969 book The Age of Discontinuity first talked of the 'society of organizations'

Only with the collapse of Marxism as an ideology and of Communism as a system* did it, however, become completely clear that we have already moved into a new and different society.

The late 1980s and early 1990s also marked the end of another era, another 'kind of history'. If the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 was the climactic event that symbolized the fall of Marxism and Communism

But the events of 1989 and 1990 were more than just the end of an era; they signified the end of one kind of history.

The new society – and it is already here – is a post-capitalist society.

It surely, to say it again, will use the free market as the one proven mechanism of economic integration.

The basic economic resource – 'the means of production' to use the economist's term – is no longer capital, nor natural resources (the economist's 'land'), nor 'labour'. It is and will be knowledge

Value is now created by 'productivity' and 'innovation', both applications of knowledge to work. The leading social groups of the knowledge society will be 'knowledge workers' – knowledge executives who know how to allocate knowledge to productive use – just as the capitalists knew how to allocate capital to productive use; knowledge professionals; knowledge employees.

Practically all these knowledge people will be employed in organizations.

The economic challenge of the post-capitalist society will therefore be the productivity

of knowledge work and knowledge worker.

The social challenge of the post-capitalist society will, however, be the dignity of the second class in post-capitalist society: the service workers. Service workers, as a rule, lack the necessary education to be knowledge workers. And in every country, even the most highly advanced ones, they will constitute a majority.

  • The relevant social events that occurred since the advent of the Post-Capitalism

One of the most important events, in the view of Dr. Drucker, was the enactment of the GI Bill of Rights, also called Servicemen’s Readjustment Act.

The GI Bill of Rights was approved by 1944 for World War II veterans, later on,  similar legislation was approved for Korean War veterans.

As a consequence, the GI Bill of Rights afforded college or vocational training to more than 10,500,000 veterans.

As a consequence, by the 50′ many soldiers who entered the GI BILL of Rights program in 1944 was already graduated, most of them from business schools.

Thus began an era of professional managers who replaced the old Capitalists that used to own the capital and managed their companies.

These changes created a society of employees made up by specialized knowledge workers.

The companies were led by Managers who were employees as well.

The major wealth was knowledge.

The financing of the new mega companies ceased to be realized by the capital of the typical Capitalists and instead with the funds of retirement that belong to an anonymous mass of employees.

This originated a “knowledge society” constituted by organizations, in which most workers are employees and owners.

A time of increasingly accelerated changes began. As a consequence of these changes the average life of the companies was shortened and the dream of retiring or making a career in the same company died.

In this scenario, the individual business ventures become almost impossible or too risky.

  • The Collateral Damages

The Collateral Damages are the Negative Side Effects caused by those events that affected the economic and financial life of the individual in his both roles as an employee of some organization and as a retired person.

On the other hand, also because of the increase on the risk of individual entrepreneurship which made almost impossible to start up a new business, no matter if they are a local business or any other kind of small business or even an independent activity.

the financial crisis hits everybody

Those collateral damages, in short, are the job insecurity, the vulnerability of pension funds exposed to the uncertainty of globalized financial markets, the declining of the entrepreneurship because the starting-up of new companies is too risky, and the shortening of the life of the companies which forces to get new jobs more frequently.

All these facts together increase the stress, hurt the health, alter the self-esteem of people and reduce the cognitive capabilities.

Some of those Collateral Damages are:

  • The job insecurity
  • The average salary reduction
  • The average duration of unemployment in the United States is In 1990, the average duration of unemployment was 12 weeks. The duration increased to 25 weeks in 2017
  • The financial risk increases the vulnerability of retirement funds.
  • The significant increasing in the living length due to medical advances together with the uncertainty on the retirement funds due to the instability of globalized markets, is one of the main concern and the biggest fear of people 44 years old and up because the risk of running out of financial resources after retirement.
  • The shortening of the life of the companies increases the possibility to need to look for a new job.
  • American entrepreneurship, the social force that made the United States the envy of the world, is declining.
  • study published in December 2015 by the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) shows that start-up activity has been slowing down in the United States for about three decades.
  • While the rate of business formation has slowed, the pace of business closures, started to ascend in 2005.
  • Business deaths now outpace business births for the first time since researchers started collecting the data in the late 1970’s.
  • The start-up rate (the number of new companies as a percentage of all firms) has fallen by nearly half since 1978
  • The starting-up is the main resource of job creation especially those less than a year; its contribution has fallen down from 7.5 million jobs a year seen in the 1990’s to 5,2 in 1914- Labor Department statistics.
  • The Kauffman Foundation reports that the percentage of adults owning a business has been declining since the 1990s.
  • Many local businesses are losing customers because their commercial presence on the Internet does not exist or is weak, and it is easier for their customers or their neighborhood customers to connect with mega companies that sell them the same product online and send it to their homes.
  • Personal businesses as independent enterprises that used to be an alternative for workers instead of a dependent relationship are increasingly difficult in the traditional way.

These collateral damages are the challenge that the Web Worker has to overcome.

B: The Resurrection of individual financial opportunities prevent a financial crisis

People taking advantage of the current working opportunities
  • The Reborn of the Individual Businesses Life

The resurrection of the Individuals’ Businesses is the result of the new opportunities that arose in most recent phase of the Post-Capitalism as a consequence of the advent and the Information Age and the birth of the Web Working.

This is the chance to mitigate the problem of the financial uncertainty over our future incomes, caused by the job insecurity and the risk on the retirement funds.

Those new amazing opportunities come from the hand of the Web Worker.

The Web Worker capitalizes the knowledge learned into all the phases of Post Capitalism by its predecessor the Knowledge Worker and returns to life the lost individual business opportunities.

So, the Web Work takes the knowledge and technological innovation, inherited not only from the Knowledge Worker but from the whole of humanity, from the dawn of the thought.

As a result, this kind t of business learning allows us to carry out different types of online business or improve the performance of the already existing local business.

This type of work is as portable as our brain so you can do it from wherever you are.

The incomes, like in the traditional economy are conditioned only by our dedication and ability to learn and execute the necessary tasks.

In conclusion, Knowledge is now unrestricted available like in 1944, the same that happened to those who had a free education pass like the GI BILL of Rights program.  In the New Information Age, the education once more is no longer restricted to only those that can afford the high expenses for college educations.

What does actually Web Work stand for?

Dr. Peter Drucker introduces the concept of the KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY in 1966.

The Knowledge Economy is the use of knowledge to generate tangible and intangible values.

From the concept of the Knowledge Economy, he derived the concept of KNOWLEDGE WORKER.  A Knowledge Worker works with his or her brain, not hands, and produces ideas, knowledge, and information.

On the contrary, the MANUAL WORKER, according to him, works with his or her hands and produces goods or services.

The Manual Worker is the typical worker of the Industrial age that born with the Industrial Revolution.

From the Knowledge Work comes the new INFORMATION SOCIETY.

This new Information society has no barriers to entry or restrictions and only keeps outside, those who decide not to enter.

The new INFORMATION SOCIETY is a society where the creation and manipulation of information is a significant economic, political, and cultural activity.

All these events anticipate a NEW AGE: The INFORMATION AGE,

As it was mentioned, the Web Work is the legitimate son of the Information Age, initiated from the massive use of computers in 1970 and the advent of the Internet in 1990.

The Web Work is the heir of the knowledge and the wisdom of the “knowledge work” that born together with the Baby boomers by World War II at the beginning of the Post Capitalism.

The Web Worker

Summarizing, together with the Post-Capitalism came the globalization of the Economy that signaled the shift to the knowledge society in which was born the “knowledge worker” the father of the Web Worker.

A Web Worker is everybody whose job is made into the Internet at a profit.

The Web Worker is a specialized type of Knowledge Worker.

Whoever works through the Internet at a profit is Web Worker.

Therefore, if you plan to carry out any type of business, you will need to find your customer within the web markets, even those clients that live in your same neighborhood.

Paradoxically the Web Worker was born into the same historical period in which other types of events produced the loss of control of our financial security and the anxiety levels arose as we never seen before.

So, the Web Worker appears as a new hope that gives life to new individual economic opportunities allowing us to have a productive life.

  • The opportunities for individuals that bring about the “Web Work”

No doubt, today, the Internet is a wealthy global digital market that has become the main place to obtain customers and do business.

Therefore, everybody who performs some type of work on the Internet has to contact clients that interact in that market.

So, to sell products or services, in order to maintain any type of business viable in the long run, it is necessary to consider online marketing as an essential tool.

As a consequence, everybody needs to get web customers, no matter if somebody owns a local business or an online business or if it is a home-based business. The same if it is out-sourced, or even if it works as a self-employed, in either case, they need to get customers if they want to keep the life of their ventures.

The Web Working is an excellent option to jump into the web economy and work with a widely rich digital market, available to any kind of business opportunities.

If you are tired or unsure about your current job, it is a very good choice to think about to work on a second career or in building an online business with a low budget that supplements your current income.

If you decide to try in the web working world you have not to submit an application anywhere, no school will allow or not your access, you have the pass granted.

This is a choice for all of us that are not willing to accept the prescription date that the economic system states as our useful economic life.

The Web Working environment is a way to build an unrestricted income stream only limited by our commitment.

Consequently, learning how to manage an online business could be a good way to get control of our economic fate.

In contrast to left it on the desk of some Wall Street broker that play games with our money until the next financial bubble explodes, the broker disappears and with him our best dreams.

  • The Web Working is the point in which the past and the current knowledge merge as one.
Internet Is where the Pasts Knowledge and the Current ones, are Merged as one, for a better future.

There is an error of perception about the current reality that confuses both, older and younger generations.

The reality is that neither the younger people are the owner of the Information Age, nor the previous generations are excluded from it.

On the contrary, the Information Age is the concurrency point where the past and the present come together. It is where it’s merged with modern technological resources with all the knowledge accumulated by humanity in its whole history with the purpose of creating new values.

It is undoubtedly the point where all generations should come together and share what they know to make a better world together.

So the Web Worker has no age, or better said, it has the age of everyone who is willing to involve with present and past knowledge and tries to contribute their ideas to the rest of the world.

The resurrection of the individual business arises as a consequence of the possibility of creates value throughout the Internet.

The Web Workers Winners, in particular, are not only those people that just want to earn more money but those that also want to win their own right to become an active member of the business world and are willing to regain their dignity and self-esteem as workers.

C: So, the business opportunities for individuals arise from The Collateral Opportunities that allow preventing future financial crisis

The Collateral Opportunities are the Positive Side Effects of the changes that took place in the most recent stage of the Post Capitalism. The start point could be considerate since the commercial use of the Internet after 1990 with the advent of Information Age and the birth of the Web Worker as a new economic activity.

1-The Unrestricted Access to business education, the same as in 1944

2-The main business competitive advantage is an individual skill

3-The Unlimited access to any markets either locally or globally

4-The business startup at too low-risk investment

5- Unrestricted access to Business and Working Opportunities

Facing the financial crisis step by step

1-The Unrestricted Access to business education, the same as in 1944

The enactment of the GI Bill of Rights, by 1944, afforded free college to more than 10,500,000 veterans.

This single event can be considerate the start point of the greatest advance in the history of human knowledge.

Similarly, in the first stage of post-capitalism, the same story is repeated again.

After 1990, the massive use of the internet in business as a marketing channel appears. So the Information Economy and the Web Worker became the main actors.

The Web Worker gave birth to a new profession or a second complementary career, and also to many individual businesses alternatives.

These learning opportunities opened up the global markets to individuals ventures like never before in history.

2-The main business competitive advantage is an individual skill

The essential purpose of any business can only be carried out by a human being this is not a rhetorical expression but a fact-supported in the studies of Dr. Peter Drucker (The management’s Father)

Getting Customers, profitably it is the task of making another human being, changes from being a stranger, to become a new customer. This is an art, and like all art combines two aspects: a) Knowledge b) Practice. Mastery in this art is a unique possibility of human nature not shared with the machines or technology.

So, Getting customers is the individual main competitive advantage. This advantage comes from the fact that people that become a Customer must have previously made a purchase. However, prior have made a purchase people need have made up a decision, these means they have made a purchase decision.

The big question is:

When the customer has made up half of the purchase decision and the markets offer similar products, how will we make the customer purchase our product instead of the competitors offer? If your answer is “the price” it is not the correct answer.

The purchase decision is a human act no matter if it is made by a single person or by a group, in any case, is surrounding uncertainty, and fears.

The science and art of getting someone else to make a purchase decision is also a human task that involves the possibility of empathy and communicates the right message.

In the cyberspace the communication never happens face to face like in the real world, this means that it is necessary to know how to communicate those messages either by text voice, graph or video.

3-The Unlimited access to any markets either locally or globally

The Internet has turned the world into a big market. We can access those global markets from anywhere we are. And this is revolutionizing the way of doing business in global and local scenarios that move unthinkable fortunes.

The Web Worker elevates the main economic task in business to the first level. Some affirm that the commerce founded on the division of the work and its main motor the sales are the activity that has produced more impact in the life of the humans.

In the same vein, the Web Working is today a required condition to get even more local customers. Even local customers are more likely aware of the existence of a local business by the Internet than watching TV.  Statistics show that today people spend much more time in the social media or searching on the internet than watching TV.

Any message we see on the internet has been made by a human being.

The Web working can be done by an individual entrepreneur due to the low investment required. So the access to global markets is possible just only with a PC and an Internet connection working from home.

4- The business startup at too low-risk investment

Traditional forms of getting Customers and selling, outside of the Internet, required a large capital investment that was not available to individuals or small businesses.

Instead, nowadays most of the Web Business model can start with a very low budget because the main resource is the knowledge, the needed tool is the Internet and the office could be either, the house or the car or anywhere.

On the other hand, companies that want to sell into the Internet are forced to hire individuals who do the work that technology cannot do: selling. This opens up additional business possibilities for those who master this art. (Read More)

5- Unrestricted Access to Business and Working Opportunities

The possibilities of starting a Web business or a Web job are not limited by anything other than personal dedication. No employer, company or government can prevent or prohibit access to businesses on the web. Also, business education is now not restricted by any condition

After World War II began the historical period called Post Capitalism that roughly coincides with the Globalization of the economy, in which both baby boomers and current generations were born. In this period, the greatest advances in the history of knowledge occurred.

However, not everything was progressing. The events of this period created side effects.

Two classes of side effect strongly impacted the lives of individuals:

  1. The Collateral Damages and
  2. The Collateral Opportunities
  1. The Collateral Damages changed the working life of individuals, destroyed jobs and worsened the quality of work.

Others serious consequences were the raising in the risk of retirement funds and in the individual commercial ventures.

The American Dream became a global nightmare.

Levels of anxiety and stress appeared like never before.

  2. In contrast, in the most recent phase of Post Capitalism after 1990 the same knowledge advances that created Collateral Damages, also created endless autonomous working opportunities and the resurrection of individual venture

The opening of global markets and the possibility of contact with customers into local areas, due to the markets become digital markets instead of geographic markets was an important advance.

So, the potential to contact both international clients and those of the same neighborhood itself with just a few clicks of the mouse at and to a low-cost put the individual work into the center of economic activities.

Technological advances lengthened and improved the lives of people and their potential for work.

However financial uncertainty made the fear to run out of money after retirement or at any moment in the working life, was as a surrounding ghost that appears again and again.

This situation has produced levels of anxiety and stress like never before that has led to dangerous levels of drug consumption for these problems.
